What do these numbers mean?

    Site Screen

Rank places for a new site

Counties, ZIP code areas or census tracts, scored from public data on what matters for the kind of site, with how robust each rank is.

A screening estimate from public data, not engineering, flood-zone, real-estate or investment advice.

    Choose the use
    Choose the area

A state (TX), metro area (metro:19100 or Dallas), county (county:48085), ZIP (75024), or street address.

Where the data comes from, and why you can trust it

    Official public sources only

Every number is downloaded directly from the organization that publishes it: US government agencies (Labor, Commerce, Census, BEA, Energy, Treasury, IRS, FDA, CDC, USDA, SEC, USGS, NOAA, CFTC, FHFA, Army Corps of Engineers), the Federal Reserve, the World Bank, the OECD and Eurostat. Published values are stored as released; unit conversions are disclosed. Anything Skyread calculates (combined measures, shares, comparisons, today's-dollar restatements) is labelled, with its method shown.

    Licensed for business use

Skyread stores only data whose publishers' terms allow commercial use and resale, and every answer carries the source credit those terms require. A few well-known series are tagged Not stored: get it from the source: their publishers do not allow storing or reselling them, so each shows where and how to get it yourself.

    Check any number yourself

Each metric has a Verify at source link to the publisher's own page, and a Raw data link to the exact file or API response the gateway reads. Every past version is kept, so revisions are traceable.
